The German police support team (GPST) headed by Police Director of the German state of Berten Wurtenberg, Mr. Martin Feigl paid a courtesy call to the Inspector General of the Gambia Police Force, Abdoulie Sanyang at his office in Banjul on Wednesday, February 16th, 2022. Mr. Martin was accompanied by a high-powered police delegation from Germany.
The head of the German delegation was happy with the progress made by the GPST, according to him, he would love to see this initiative continue and that as a result of the change of government in his country, he isn’t sure if the new government will continue with what the outgoing had already started, as the GPST project is expected to phase out this year. He expressed sincere gratitude for the hospitality accorded to him and his team.
The IGP, Abdoulie Sanyang, noted with pride that the GPF has benefited immensely from the German support, noting that he would love to see this important support extended to other formations of the police.
IGP Sanyang finally thanked the Germans and assured them that their support indeed has added value to the work of the Gambian Police. ACP Mustapha Ndong, Special Assistant to the IGP gave a detailed overview of the GPF.
It is significant to note that, the partnership between German Police and GPF was strictly police to police cooperation through the respective line ministries of Interior of the Gambia and Germany, and has nothing related to immigration as falsely published by some media and individuals.
