8 brand-new motorcycles were donated to security institutions under the ministry of interior, courtesy of the Gambia police force cooperative credit union (GPFCCU) the presentation, done at the police headquarters in Banjul was presided by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, witnessed by representatives of beneficiary institutions, including the DG, Immigration, GG, prisons, Chief Fire Officer, SIS and Ministry of Interior respectively. Speaking during the presentation, Chief Superintendent, Pa Singhateh, General Manager of GPFCCU said the donated bikes cost over D300,000 and was just a way of giving back to their parent institutions.
” We are delighted to hand over this token to the various security agencies under the preview of the interior ministry, this to fulfill our responsibility in plowing back to our members. I’m proud to say that if it wasn’t for these institutions, there would have not been the GPFCCU. We hope that the donation will go a long way in facilitating the ease of transportation in the various units”.
Receiving the donated bikes on behalf of the IGP, Momodou Sowe, Deputy Inspector General of Police, underscored the importance of the credit union in the lives of members, including himself. He noted with pride that the cooperation between the GPFCCU and the GPF will continue to grow from strength to strength, citing the fact that the credit union is now the 2nd biggest union in the Gambia. DIG Sowe thanked the donors and assured them that the bikes will be put to good use. Other speakers include; Commissioner Admin, Samba Jawo, and Chief Superintendent, Fofana of the GID.
