It is against this backdrop that the Gambia Police Force recruited, trained and successfully passed out 437 police personnel on Thursday June 13, 2013. Under the distinguished auspices of Her Excellency, the Vice President, Dr. AjaIsatouNjie‐Saidy recruit squad one 2012, passed out in a spectacular graduation ceremony held at the July 22nd Square. It all commenced with prayers in the Muslim and Christian faiths respectively conducted by Imam Tafsir Gaye and Dr. Henry Carrol, inspection of the parade by H.E. Dr. Njie‐Saidy. This was followed by the march past led by Superintendent BaboucarrNjie as parade commander in what was a brilliant display of drill skills, in slow and quick time and VP Njie‐Saidy presides over graduation ceremony of Recruit Squad 1 / 2012 VP NjieSaidy inspects the parade advance into review order. In a keynote address, Her Excellency, the Vice President, Dr. IsatouNjie‐ Saidy reaffirmed government’s commitment to defense and security.She reiterated that His Excellency, the President of the Republic cherishes nothing more than the security services of The Gambia and has been backing it up with concrete action… as my word of advice, to the passing out squad, maintain discipline and respect your authorities, so that you may have a good career, refrain from all forms of corruption, maintain a high sense of loyalty to your country at all times by keeping the peace and avoid situations that may create resentment towards the police in particular, and the security services in general. She further advised them to stay away from all forms of corruption while assuring them of government’s continuous support in the areas of accommodation, logistics and training among a host of other things, to enhance the operational capacities of the security.
